Re: Ebay Sucks

in reply to 20thcenturysports

I was given negative feedback by a buyer. Admittedly the initial error was my fault in that I listed 2 Gold pendants of different weights. I listed one as 2.5grms and one as 3grms and mixed up the weights when listing.I listed the 2.5grms as 3grms and the 3grms as 2.5grms. When one of my customers said the item I sent was 2.5gms and NOT 3 grms as listed I realised my error. I contacted the buyer immediately and offer either a return ( at my expense ) and a refund of I would give a partial refund of $35 which the buyer accepted. Then had the bloody cheek to give me a negative feedback. Complained to EBay but a total waste of time

I know this is an older post...but, come on!

The buyer is spending their hard-earned money.

More importantly, the buyer is NOT ALLOWED to leave negative feedback for 7 days, until they contact the seller. Buyers are openly DISCOURAGED from leaving negative feedback.

If I have a problem, I have to deal with the seller first, before eBay will even do anything for me. There are so MANY HOOPS to jump through, just to reslove an issue.

And I'm sick of eBay sellers who don't know what the hell they are selling. They are too lazy to bother doing any research. Or they don't actually pay attention to the item they are selling. Or they inaccurately describe the item. Or they mis-label or misrepresent an item. The list goes on and on and on.

And then there's sellers who'll list an item cheaply--but then deliberately gouge the shipping, charge, double, triple or more, than actual shipping costs! That's WRONG. It's immoral. By all rights, it should be ILLEGAL, but eBay allows you sellers to get away with that **bleep**.

So stop whining about buyers feedback. If you don't want negative feedback, don't be lazy, do the research!  Be ACCURATE in your description. Make sure you have warned of ALL defects, don't overcharge on shipping,

I'm on a fixed income, and when I get stuck with a **bleep** item, it makes me very, very, very, angry. Because I DO read the description! I just got an item today that was broken and dirty...from a seller who described the item as almost new!

Re: Ebay Sucks

in reply to silvermane48

I purchased 2 items from a seller and paid a high expedited shipping charge. I needed the items and was leaving for a month on a sailing trip with no internet. the items showed no movement and needed the items before leaving and sent several messages to the seller stating if the items are not received before I leave (which was 2 days after the late expected ny date. ) I did not need them and please cancel transaction. No answer ever after 4 messages before delivery date. I called Ebay several times and explained there would not be anyone there to accept delivery and they said the seller would be in the wrong if not delivered when promised and for me not to worry. I oipened a case feeling asssured that Ebay's Reps would handle this as promised. I left for my trip and a day later the Post Office attempeted to deliver the items and had a neighbor refuse delivery for me. I went on my trip and after about 3 week when I got internet back I saw an email from ebay saying I had lost the case because delivery was refused. They said refusing an items voids the Ebay Buyer Protection, even though I was assured it would not be a problem. So now after almost 2 months I am denied a refund of the 2 items(just over $48.). The item tracking numbers according to the Post Office don't always show the return free trip back to the seller. Even though noone at my end ever took possession and the seller has insurance on the package I am still refused a refund. I have been a buyer and seller since 2001 and just ended my Paypal account soon to follow with my Ebay account. I also was selling a smally  batch(10) of Sinclair folding knives which Ebay pulled and told me they were counterfeit. I don't know how they knew it because this was before I even sold one. I asked about all the Sinclair knives, Smith & Wesson Knives and Fobus pistol holsters that are counterfeit that are sold being sold by Chinese sellers and was informed they would look into them. These counterfeit items(hundreds of them) are still being sold from these chinese sellers. I spoke to a Ebay Rep and was able since I could barely understand their English that he was located in Asia. Could it be that Ebay is taking care of their Asian brothers selling counterfeit item ? Ebay has gone from a site I used to enjoy selling and buying on, but has turned inot a mostly counterfeit flea market. One more thing, I was selling a new holster, the buyer opened a not as pictured case against me, which because I knew this was an unused holster of mine that was new. The buyer sent the item back and either traded his wore out holster for my new one or did not fit his gun and damaged it to get a refund. Ebay decided that no one was at fault and we were both refunded the price of the holster, however, the buyer even after receiving a refund left me negative feedback(my only ever since 2001) and Ebay said they could not remove it.

I completely agree ebay used to be fun i had been using it since the beginning but now its all stores and everything is selling at retail with unrealistic shipping costs so there is no point in shopping here anymore ...

they should let you search through listings that are not associated with stores

Right, that's why they've changed their free listing incentives to emphasize auctions, because Amazon is best known for their auctions. Brilliant.

They don't want you anyway Amazon is eating there lunch and E-bay is in the process of total makeover to copy Amazon.  They are cutting loose 1000's of sellers every day because of some crooked buyer making false reports, you have no leg to stand on.

Long story short, don't EVER leave negative feedback because you will be the one to suffer for it! Totally done with eBay.

If you got a warning for extortion, you must have demanded something in an email that you shouldn't have, and you must have threatened negative feedback if you didn't get it. That's extortion. Millions of eBayers leave negative feedback without being sanctioned, so your warning to never leave a neg is absurd.

It's not "poor business practice" to enforce well-documented policies. It's quite the opposite. And I'll bet $50 that you're not "totally done with eBay".

agreed, I am dealing with the right now, as soon as I wrap up what I have left I am closing my account on Ebay and getting out..

Terrible customer service, they give the buyers the ability to just rip sellers off and then Ebay just sits here and collects fees for all of it..

I am SERIOUSLY DONE, as soon as I get dont with issues at hand im done with the **bleep** forever.

I dont sell overseas as well...and I noticed a buyer from overseas won and never paid...I reported buyer to ebay because they had two foreign addresses...and later it was updated to an American one which looked fishy...so Ebay is doing nothing to help the sellers and stop this bogus bidding and getting through the sellers settings other than refunding fees.

How about this?

Ebay forced me to change my password, then it would not log me in and I missed an auction for an item I was waiting over a year to be available...

Re: Ebay Sucks

ebay reverses negative feedback left by buyers as well.  arbitrarily based only on the seller's word.  i have had two situations where i bought items that turned out to be fakes and when i left negative feedback, it was reversed by ebay. i appealed one time because the situation was so ridiculous.  the reversal was upheld because of a delay in shipping due to a hurricane in the south that happened two months before the item was purchased.  the negative was because the item was fake and the seller shipped from new york state.  i appealed again, this time to the president's office, pointing out the fallacies in ebay's reason for reversing the negative feedback and again it was upheld based on the original reason.  when i asked the service rep how he could support or even tell me this in good faith, he said he was not allowed to say anything, he was so embarrassed.   so i guess if all the sellers complaining about not being able to leave negative feedback, (which is as silly as buyers not being able to leave negative feedback when warranted) they should understand that buyers are in the same boat.  now i am going through the same thing again, valid negative feedback for selling a fake item has been reversed with no feedback from me.  i have over 2500 feedbacks and pridemyself on being fair and leaving prompt and positve feedback, there have been problems and when they are resolved, i always leave positive feedback, but when there is a valid reason for negative feedback and it is reversed so arbitrarily, it imakes the whold process useless.  feedback is a way to complement the vast majority of sellers and also to point out those who are not acting in an ethical manner.  the same should apply to buyers who act in an unethical manner as well.  there is no reason as far as i am concerned to leave any feedback because ebay has arbitrarily invalidated the whole process as far as i am concerned.  since i am not required to leave feedback i will no longer do so.  if it has not meaning why should i waste my time?

You're still on the hook for buyer complaints, etc. Sometimes it takes 180 days to close a selling account.

But why do you care? No use = no fees.

Re: Ebay Sucks

in reply to 20thcenturysports

My reason for thinking so is just this past few months I had a buyer in Brazil. Mailed the package first class at his request to save him money, and had the customs barcode number--thought it would be as good as a tracking number. Well, he complained he didn't get his package to eBay and they ruled in his favor!! So I'm out my merchandise, plus the 30 bucks for shipping!! I think the fact that it showed my merchandise arriving in Brazil customs should have been enough to show them I shipped it. No more overseas shipping for me, think I'll stick to USA from now on!!!

I am trying to leave eBay but eBay keeps saying I have to wait 30 days from when I've sent payment to close my account. It's bogus!  I am leaving for the same reasons as you.  I've left HONEST feedback to a couple of bad sellers, and the feedback I left was all removed.  But then a bad buyer was permitted to LIE and leave ME a negative when he didn't want to pay for my item after he bid on it.  Customer Support didn't want to remove the feedback.  It's UNFAIR.  Ebay sells garbage now anyway.  There's nothing good to buy there anymore.  Just low-quality **bleep**.  So there's no reason for me to buy or sell on eBay anymore.  I want to close my account NOW.  I shouldn't have to wait 30 more days for nothing.  Everything has been paid and cleared.  I want out NOW!
