The selling of Fake Stamps on Ebay

galaxyofficecorp

Is it possible for someone controlling Ebay, to maybe make a place, or another "listing category area", specifically made for known fake stamps and replicas?

I have noticed an increase in Ebay sellers that are now selling "Phantoms, Cinderellas, Reproductions, Replicas, Undisclosed Fakes, and other such items within Ebays' 19th century stamp category.

If I, as a buyer, wanted fake stamps, I would scan them myself and let my printer print them out by the sheetfull.

I am not shopping on Ebay to buy somebody else's computer scan cutouts of "19th century stamps for sale" on Ebay and then calling these creations "19th century phantoms and replicas".

And as I shop, all I see are fake replicas, and phantoms, and reproductions.

Ebay has let so many shady sellers sell "replicas" within the "19th century stamp catagory", that the Ebay auctions have flooded the market with fakes.

Replicas should be listed as just that, a category called "Stamp Replicas and Reproductions", and "known sellers of such material" will now have to list their stamps there.

Ebay has to create a more fair environment for the buyer, whom can only see a two dimensional picture of a paper stamp on the internet.

Thank You for you time.

Along with learning to distinguish genuine stamps from forgeries, you ought to learn that words have exact meanings.

Droll, sir.

Here is a free lesson, in case you haven't figured it out by now: When mounting your stamps you use a stamp hinge, not scotch tape--the latter is your personal version of Viagra. You adhere a stamp hinge to the side of the stamp that doesn't have an image on it.

Re: The selling of Fake Stamps on Ebay

Are you a man of few words because you learned only very few, hence the reason that you use a picture to express yourself ?

Your bird's wide-open mouth is larger than the space in its cranium that its brain occupies.

I wonder if the same can be said of YOU !

Perhaps so.

Perhaps you subconsciously chose this picture of a bird to illustrate that aspect about yourself.

Are you the Cobbie 10 who shipped me a damaged book, sent a refund and then blocked me from bidding in your auctions. If so, you have Zero credibility.

Re: The selling of Fake Stamps on Ebay

A typical response from a seller who is trying to rationalize selling replicate postage stamps as somehow okay. It is not okay and ebay should take steps to block sellers, who think it is okay to sell fake stamps on ebay.

Wake up and smell the coffee. Ebay will do nothing because they make a commission on every stamp sold.

Re: The selling of Fake Stamps on Ebay

Famous Canadian seaway invert (Sc. 387a) FAKE stamp just sold for $2,550 on ebay. Obvious glued on inverted center. I reported to ebay. I asked if the buyer would be informed it is a fake. They said they would investigate... and if determined it is, the listing would be cancelled and the buyer would then know. I don't feel ebay is really policing this type of behavior since voiding transactions, however dubious,  is not in their best financial interest.

Re: The selling of Fake Stamps on Ebay

A word of advise and about following the rules.

Accusing buyers or sellers by using the names of users and/or linking to lots of sellers in this forum is against the rules of the forum. It can cause the thread to be deleted, the comment to be deleted or cause the user doing it to be "deleted" from the forums and/or eBay. This is because of legal issues. The seller or buyer you are naming or linking to can take legal action against eBay for allowing it here in the forums and/or legal action against YOU for defamation ect.

There are smart ways to get around it.

1.) show images of the fake stamps here.

2.) show specific search terms to find the lot in question. Example: search for "U.S. Scott#78 Used" in the Stamps Category. Using the sellers "title" to search will minimize what comes up.

3.) if already sold advise here that it has been sold and that people can search in the completed items but that it will only show in the 90 day period they are retained by eBay.

4.) If you are serious REPORT the item to eBay then.......

5.) If you are SUPER serious and ABSOLUTELY positive the seller is offering fakes/forgeries in the Stamps Category without proper descriptions and placed in the proper category then contact Steve directly and he can have the item/user looked at by the experts to determine.

Please remember that abusing #5 can result in your own account being suspended and/or removed from eBay. You MUST be absolutely positive and show good evidence in your email of this fraudulent activity or it will either be ignored or action taken against you personally if you abuse Mr. Halupka's email.

You MUST use your email that is registered with eBay and provide your user name on eBay that is used under that email address in the email to prove you are a legitimate member with a legitimate complaint on this subject.

If the above "rules" are not followed expect to be ignored.........

Moderators are watching these threads so those of you using user names and linking directly to lots IN THIS THREAD quit it....ok? You are simply ASKING to have your comment and/or this thread to be removed.
