Stampboards.com and other's opinions of it

I would like to find out if there are others that are members of Stampboards.com and what their opinions are of it. Please be honest as my opinions are absolutely awful and horrendous.

The ownwer is rude and totally on an ego trip and uses the site for his personal bebefit.

He pulls posts when he feels like it and treats newbies like garbage

Lol, I am a proud member of the banned for life group from there.

You have discovered just how bad some forums can be.

Because of "agendas" some stamp forums have I tend to avoid most simply

because of bullying, misinformation usually caused by just a few.

Very sorry for your bad experience. You are definitely not alone.

One thing about this forum....certain "antics" like what you experienced is not

tolerated here. Seems the members here are a bit more mature about things although

once in a while.........Smiley Frustrated

Oh I should have googled this site before I went on there.

I simply wanted some advice and as a newbie, the 'sherriff' was rude and condescending in several messages. When I called him on it, in a very polite way, he was even worse and deleted part of my post.

The "SHERRIFF" is Glen Stephens.

He owns Stampboards.com

And YES, Stevo is a legend, in his own mind.

Narcissistic personality disorder

Banned for LIFE TWICE.

There is some good info there, you don't have to be a Stampboard member to see the info, go to Google, put in Stampboards, your IN, one cannot buy, but most of it is junk anyway.

Upset the narcissistic clown that runs the show and one will get  jumped on, or by one of the mods who think they are God's gift to Philatelic knowledge, and suck up to the narcist clown owner (a person who suffers from narcissism, deriving erotic gratification from admiration of his or her own physical or mental attributes), like they are the be all and end all of philatelic knowledge (BULL**bleep**) .

I often go there 3-4 times a week just for a laugh, The **bleep** being put on Mossgreen at the moment is totally unwarrented by Stampboard dumbos, none of their business, just the narcissistic clown getting his rocks off.

I have been a member of Stampboards since Jan 2008. I wanted to collect Australia pre-decimal stamps and found this site.

Over the years I have been able to gain much knowledge from the folks on the site, and have purchased many stamps from members, yes even from Glen Stephens.

Over the years I have seen people come and go and to me it is caused by NOT following the RULES set down in order to be a member. You must remember Glen owns and pays for the site and he makes the rules, they haven't changed much over the years but if you don't follow them you may not be there long. Read the rules, follow them and you will learn alot, if you want too.

I live in Atlanta GA USA. Never met the man but have done business with him and I do not believe he is dishonest in any way. Just my 2¢

I really like StampBoards for the experts on it who are very helpful with questions.   Just today I asked about the difference between Scott 1582 and 1582b with dull gum, and rec'd a terrific response.

Just don't go down an argumentative rabbit hole.

Stamp collectors in general are proud of their arcane knowledge and happy to share it with other collectors.

Stampboards.com and other's opinions of it

I joined stampboards.com a few months ago and I wish I had done some research first.

I did have one good suggestion to my query about stamps and in general the members are polite and helpful. It became odd when I replied to a post from a member trying to sell stamps and calling themselves 'glenstephens'.

He proceeded to hound me by personal email demanding to know if I was placing an order or not. If not, I was derailing his thread (which had not received a single reply since it was posted over 6 weeks previously). I eventually had to make it very clear I did not want to place an order.

I was a bit surprised and the alarm bells went off in my head. I did some googling and did not find anything nice about this peculiar specimen.

He goes by the handle of 'The Sheriff' of Tombstone on stampboards.com as well as 'glenstephens', 'ozstamps', perhaps 'admin' as well. He is the owner and founder of the forum.

I have seen that his account is suspended on Twitter and I hear he's banned from Ebay. I imagine this is down to his toxic remarks and abusive language to people. I can't comment on any of his business deals.

At first, to be honest, I thought people who were giving him bad reviews were exaggerating.

After all this googling, I went back to read a number of his older posts.
I am not easily shocked by things in life, but when I saw how many times he verbally defecated upon and abused people who were simply asking advice on stamps, I was surprised.

His venom was totally uncalled for and not the actions of a rational person.

I have since contacted the administration of stampboards.com and requested my membership be cancelled as I do not want to be associated in any way with a forum that allows this caustic behaviour.

I won't know what the reply will be as I have blocked all addresses from that site.

This 'sheriff' or whoever he wants people to know him as, is best avoided and forgotten.

Sorry to say your membership will never be removed. Anyone who becomes a member there is "kept" to make the forum look bigger than it really is. All you can do is leave and....forget. But then....forgetting is....impossible once you've been through the abuse....

This thread is so funny. It seems that nothing much changes.
I got "banned for life" from Stampboards by that idiot about five, maybe six, years ago, because he put up some information in error which I politely corrected, and he went off as if I had burgled his house. Absolutely crackers and definitely has anger management issues... his best line was "my lawyer is better than your lawyer" (or words to that effect).
Don't forget, we were discussing a description of a stamp!
Anyway - I have never returned, because it revolves around Australian and US stamps in the main so I haven't missed anything, especially as I have tightened up my specialisation into a very narrow area of GB.
I have seen him be especially rude to those he accuses of being newbies, as if he were born with the knowledge he thinks he has.
This mastermind even used to back up an answer he made under his (sic!) "ozstamp" ID with the same from his "sheffiff" ID as if we didn't know it was the same person (basically talking to himself). Megalomania is the best word that comes to mind.
I have since found several far more friendly stamp forums, I even run a very specialised one myself. I would suggest you look at Stamporama if you want help without the nastiness.

I banned myself. I got my tirade in FIRST.The man is completely unhinged. And the stuff he tries to push onto others is complete rubbish. But I learnt more on that site from other contributors about stamps than I ever did anywhere else.

Oh I wish I had seen this earlier!

Just got my first BAN because I called out The Sheriff for an insulting reply to a completely innocuous post.

He deleted 2 of my posts calling him out, then replied in a more insulting manner to a PART of my post. then banned me when I called him out on that.

looks like I am in good company
