New Listing Tool Will It Be Mandatory In Future?

Does anyone know if the New listing tool or form will be mandatory anytime in the future? Today was the 2nd time my store has changed from the old form to the new one. I had to call ebay again to have it changed back.

The CS rep said there are no plans to make the new listing tool mandatory. But could he be wrong?

Especially as in another thread someone said CSR told them it was NOW mandatory and everyone had to use it as from yesterday - oh AND they also said in the future listings made with anything else wouldn't be supported (or some such rubbish)

after reading ur thread i checked my listing form.

and of course ebay has switched me as well...

can't stand it...

i cannot stand the specifics...

if i list a costume brooch, in have to fill up stuff like;

unbranded

no stones

not this

no that

apparently in the new form there is no way to remove the specifics.

ebay has also done away with some of my settings; free shipping, return policy...

couldn't ebay just transfer all my settings from the old form?

i will give the new form a try...

just tired of switching back...

with all the changes, the new ebay...

the thrill is gone.

getting harder and harder to sell anything.

i mean i have no problems selling the rare and more desirable stuff elsewhere.

seems it is all i can sell here nowadays...

i make money here but it's getting old...

at times i feel that going back to a regular job would a lot easier...

is calling ebay the only way to switch back to the old form?

thanks...

I'm still having luck trying to list a car in motors to get the option.

New Listing Tool Will It Be Mandatory In Future?

ok will try to do that if necessary...

will try the new form and see...

to others...

what bothers me most is the category specifics...

will try to list a piece of fine jewelry tomorrow.

but what is 1 supposed to do?...

i sell sterling and some gold jewelry...

at times the pieces have stones in them...

i don't care about the stones.

don't care if glass or diamonds or else...

all i want to list is a sterling cross or a 14k ring...

all i want is to make a little more than that scrap value.

from experience most stones have no value (unless a certain size)...

have been scrapping gold jewelry for the last 15 years.

i can count on both hands the times i was paid more for the stones.

so what do u do when a listing has all the specifics (endless if u ask me) when it comes to fine jewelry...

in the new form seems u can't remove them...

this is what has been stopping me to list gold jewelry...

many have tiny diamonds, rubies, emeralds...

some have large citrine and others (not very valuable stones)....

i don't know the carat, the weight, the size...

so what is one supposed to do?

thanks...

@wfloridafinds Have you tried asking on the Seller Hub board? The link is in the sticky thread at the top of this board

u know i just switched back...

i could not believe how hard it was to find the category in the new form for a Nissan Sentra 1994...

all it would come up with is; parts... accessories... headlights...

then a few other choices all in accessories...

had to browse the categories and finally found the car category...

have to be honest not even sure how i made it...

but it worked...

i am switched back to the old form...

i really don't get the new form.

i will check the hub...

have to go on a board where they talk about the new form...

like the OP i am worried that it will become mandatory soon or later...

I started a thread about this yesterday. I was switched again and got an email message that the old ltsting tool will not be supported going forward (no time frame given).

The category I need to put my items in does not come up and when I browse it says there is no match. It wants me to put vintage pottery in the wrong or more generic cat. That is just one drawback.

Along with the item being seen roulette, now ebay is controlling how we list. I expect a lot less choice of cats in the future.

that was my first dislike of the new form...

very few choices when u enter what u have for sale...

and from there it gets worse...

well will stick to the old form for as long as i can...

the last time they switched me, my only choice was the short new form.

could even not access the long form.

in the short form couldn't change my return policy to 30 days and many other things.

what a mess it was.

don't understand ebay's thinking...

@wfloridafinds

I have found, concerning the item specifics on the the new listing form, that if I skip any that don't apply, they just don't show on my listing.  Of course, if they are mandatory with as asterisk, you have to enter something.

I was concerned at first, because on the old form you could delete unnecessary ones or they showed up as blank when listed.  Now you don't have to bother with that step, just skip them.

I haven't tried listing in your category, though, so you might try one and see how it appears. You can always revise if it doesn't look right.
