I have a bunch of watchers but they are not buying

In the last 3 months I have had over 70 watchers on my items( 1-3 people per item) but they are not buying .When I do make a slae 90% of the time it was not something being watched.I have my prices so low now that i only make 3-5 dollars profit per sale and sometimes just to get rid of stuff I make between 2-3 profit. I do have a few high end items wher I make 50.00-100.00 but those are few and far between So I guess the main question is.I am I putting the items on to long that they forget me?Are my prices still to high ? I am a top rated saller with a store but the last couple months are very depressing with watchers and no to not many buyers. Suggestions please.

I have a bunch of watchers but they are not buying

I feel like I opened a can of worms. Bottom line looks like watchers really mean nothing and views mean at least they looked at your stuff. So I should be greatful if 1 in 20 watched items turn into a sale. Most of my sales do not come from watched items. So I will keep my prices where they are and hope for the best. 95% of all my toys are bewteen 8.99 and 7.99.The rest are all over the place price wise to what others have sold an item for..Thanks for all the advice and the information.

OP,

My suggestion - stop looking at watchers and expecting them to be buyers.

I am watching about 50 items at any given time, and I will buy less than 5% of them.

I watch for a multitude of reasons:

- I have a similar one and want to see if yours sells

- It's on my wish list, but I will only buy if I sell enough to justify a splurge

- I am bookmarking your item while I find others sellers with the same item for less

- I am bookmarking your item while I search for it on Amazon

- I reported a listing violation, and am waiting to see if eBay takes it down

- I reported it under VERO, and am comfirming that eBay will take it down

- I'm waiting for you to put it on sale

- I can't believe someone is trying to sell that

- I can't believe someone is asking that much for it

- I'm not sure I want it yet

- I'm waiting for my wife to get back to me

- I'm selling one locally, and will only buy yours if mine sells

... and about 100 other reasons.

Most watchers are not buyers, they are sellers looking for help with pricing.

As someone who has 8 pages of watched items and a pad of paper for the over flow.

I search new.  Items I absolutely have to own, I purchase immediately.  So if I catch it right as the system updated, it may have not have any  watchers at all.

The rest I put on my watched list for a number of reasons.  Yes, price could be high.  Or it is something I am interested in, do not want to purchase right now, but want easy access to it when I do.

Then as I make a sale here or get paid, I purchase the ones I want the most.  So somethings may stay in my watch list for a long time.

They could all be eBay bot clicks. eBay encourages sellers to use markdown manager on watched items. What better way to get sellers to lower their prices.

No, they would be the listing violation police. Mall cop? It's mall security. Have some respect for the brave men and women who keep the food court safe.

What I'm seeing more and more of - the watchers wait for your listing to expire... then very soon - here comes their message...If you stlll have that item - I'll give you ___ for it... Usually 25% of the price it expired at..... scummy...

maybe they are unsure of something.  Offer returns to give them more confidence of ordering from you, better pictures, maybe missing details etc.

OP,

I am the VERO representative for several music artists who have asked me to report unauthorized bootlegs.

I also report music listings where a seller has put hundreds of unrelated music artist names in "white on white" text in order to manipulate search and clog up my searches with hundreds of unrelated items .

If you consider that being a "mall cop", then I'm guilty as charged.
