So, I sold a couple of items about 2 weeks ago, and went to print shipping labels one evening, and to my surprise it seems that shipping labels had already been printed. Am I losing my mind? Did I print these in my sleep one night? Not so. I clicked on the little shipping tab and it seems someone hacked into my account and managed to print 16 International Overnight Shipping tickets for 3 different sales to my account for the tune of $2900.00. Aside from that, there were now 16 different members across the US that somehow were linked directly to my Ebay account, so when you print a shipping label anyone of these 16 names would appear as the return address. Oh, and on top of this I have had 2 cases against me due to the mix-up in the all these shipping labels, and of course it wiped out my Top Rated Seller and Powerseller status, dropped my DSR's, and now I have had limitations put on my selling account on Ebay, and of course they won't work with me to get these cases closed and my TRS and PS status reinstated. After 8 years on Ebay, and over 1300 Positive feedbacks, I am nailed because of a hacker and Ebay won't do anything for me. BS!
So of course I freaked out as Ebay is connected to my Paypal account and my Paypal account is linked to my personal bank account, and I find that since of course there wasn't $2900.00 in my Paypal account it hit my personal bank account and they surely did take $2900.00 from me. I call Ebay in a panick at 11pm that night, I get hooked up with what they call a "SECURITY SPECIALIST" who barely spoke English and the best they could say is we will look into it and I should change my password immediately (YOU THINK)???? They then tell me to call Paypal as it is out of there hands. So next I call Paypal and I'm on the phone with them for 2 hours. Same thing, they will investigate, and stop the payments on all these shipping charges. TOO LATE, they have already come out of my bank account. So after 2 hours with Paypal, they tell me it is out of there hands and I need to contact my bank and talk to them. I ended up having to close all my accounts in my bank and with Paypal and I'm out $2900.00 hoping it will get resolved and I will get my money back, and still Ebay can't help with who hacked into my account.
I think as others say in there postings, Ebay and Paypal could really care less about most of us as long as they keep collecting there fee's from us.
I guess people should watch there accounts closely. If it happened to me, it could happen to you, and don't count on Ebay or Paypal to bend over backwards in an instance like this to help me or YOU!
So now I went and purchased an item on Ebay the other day and realized that I can't pay for it because I disconnected my personal account from Paypal. I will be a cold day in HE** before I link my personal account to Paypal again after this matter. I guess I will have to see if I can send a money order to the sellers to pay for my items. I could care less if Ebay doesn't like it or want people to send money orders for items purchased.
BE CAREFUL EVERYONE!!!

Really? What are the odds that someone hacked your account so they could buy Indianapolis Colts party invitations, of all things? And what do you think the odds are that it wasn't you or a family member, considering the fact that you bought other Colts stuff a month ago?
Ask around the house. I'll bet someone knows something. Maybe they're planning a surprise party for you.

I suggest that you visit the website www.ic3.gov This is a the official website ran by the FBI devoted to internet fraud. Other than that you can contact your local TV news outlets or prodice your owne video and make your case on youtube. I get thet feeling that eBay wants to keep the hacker fraud issues as quiet as possible and that will only get serious when they suffer finacially. Shame on eBay.

Six-month old thread; probably a bit too late for that.

Mine was hacked too.Thousands of dollars in fraudulently sold cold coins and camera equipment ended up on my account, because someone hacked in and changed the email (How does this happen with user id, passwords and security questions, that no one has access to?) There is an acchilles heel somewhere in eBay for this to happen, or they may go down. I just got diconnected while the "resolution" was suppesedly taking place. This, being the 4th call where I was told the charges, etc. were being taken care of, (and still getiing urgent emails). This person, also, spoke with such a heavy accent he was hard to understand.
My BIGGER concern is, "Do I ever trust eBay again?" Not at the moment. Wish me luck trying to reach them to start over with the call.
Shame on eBay!

eBay wasn't hacked; you were. You clicked on a link in an email or visited a web site that conned you into providing your ID/password or installed spyware on your computer.

I also had my other account hacked last week, what a mess, I don't think they got to my money but ebay ended up deleting about 250 of my listings ( they claim they did that because the hacker had listed some items under my name) and I had to change all my passwords. Now I check my ebay for sales about 10 times a day , the day this supposedly happend I had gone out shopping for a few hours and then home , fixed dinner and then looked at my ebay stuff, found a message from ebay, called ebay to find out then realized most of my listings were gone and immediately got to work on changing passwords and checking for any other signs of problems. I was fortunate it sounds like only losing a mess of listings . I guess the moral of this story might be to check not only your ebay account but also paypal and bank accounts daily for anything that looks suspicious and out of place. I will definately be watching mine really closely from now on.

See if your state attorney general's office has a cybercrimes unit and report it. I would also suggest that because ebay is in California, you also contact the California AG. You might call ebay back and ask them who at ebay is the best person to be contacted by the police or an investigator in the course of getting to the bottom of this. Perhaps it will heighten their awareness of whether it is truly out of their hands.
