I WAS TOLD BY A SELLER THAT THE REASON THEIR POSTAGE WAS SO HIGH, WAS THAT EBAY GOT A PERCENTAGE OF THE COST OF SHIPPING. IS THIS SO OR IS THIS SELLER JUST MAKING EXCUSES TO DOUBLE CHARGE FOR POSTGE?

yes ebay charges a fee, but certainly not double!---it's roughly 9%.....so on a $10 shipping charge the seller would pay a fee of .90

Your caps lock key is stuck - no need to shout.
Yes, eBay charges a final value fee on the entire transaction, including the shipping. 9% on most items.
If the shipping charges are too high, find a different seller.
Most buyers will downgrade the shipping fee DSR in such cases.
Its best to just find a better seller - one that doesn't overcharge on shipping.

Yes eBay charges fees on the shipping BUT that has NOTHING to do with you as a buyer or what the seller is allowed to charge for shipping.
Ebay fees are not allowed to be charged to the buyer in the shipping or the handling.
Great news for you is that the seller admitted they are violating policy which makes this easy.
Ccall eBay and have them read that message and the seller will take a violation hit for excessive shipping and for charging for something that is specifically NOT ALLOWED as per the seller pratices policy.

1. PLEASE click your "caps lock" button ONCE. When you type in all caps it's as if you were shouting in someone's face. surely you wouldn't ask for help like THAT would you? 2. e-Bay and payPal both have charges for items that are sold. You can see the ''"selling"" section to learn all about it. 3. If you as a buyer ever think that the seller of a particular item is charging too much, for item AND/OR shipping, you can always just find another seller who charges less. Hope this helps.B-)

Here is the info that some did not want you to have......
What you can charge
Actual shipping cost: This is the amount for shipping the item. It should be what you paid the carrier.
Handling cost: This can include the cost of packaging materials and insurance cost, if any.
What you're NOT ALLOWED to charge
Related fees: Things like gas, mileage, time spent at a carrier, employee wages, or eBay and PayPal fees shouldn't be added.
(And before it is even tried because someone will.......it should not be added because it is in the NOT ALLOWED portion of the policy and you should NOT do something you are NOT ALLOWED to do according to the policy...and contract laws do not make it any different)
Contact Customer Support Report listing violations or problems with another eBay member.
But in your case call eBay as you have proof of the violations and talk to someone in trust and safety...not general support.
