I bought something from ebay and forgot to change my address after I moved. However, the seller used USPS to ship and I had a forward in place 3 weeks before.
USPS delivered the package to my old address and the new resident claims he did not get the package. USPS now says there is nothing they can do about it.
Surely this is not right? Yes I made a mistake but they should have caught the package and ship it to my new address also right?

The Seller shipped the package to your confirmed address which you did not update. Forwarding offers only limit forwarding, the post office is now charging for complete shipment. Did you pay for the forwarding?

This happened to my wife and myself when we shipped to a Buyer. Item marked shipped and worked with the Buyer for a month before she even stated that she moved and she was mad at us for shipping to her old address. She moved a short distance away and didn't want to go over and ask if the package was there. In short, with lack of action and not updating confirmed address, my buyer tried to shift fault to my wife and myself and said "They wanted their item replaced because we should have known she moved" Than she opens a case against us and left negative feedback. Needless to say, the case was closed in our favor and the feedback was removed.
If you are the buyer and you moved, update your confirmed address! Review forward information on the Post Office site because the forward expires or cost money. Don't leave yourself in a bind.

Your post office not following your forwarding request has nothing to do with ebay or the seller. It is not something the seller or ebay is responsible. Tell your post office you want to file a claim due to their error of not following forwading request in place. good luck

You want advice, take this up with the postal service, your seller, eBay and PayPal all did exactly as you instructed them to do.
And change your address here and with anyone else that might mail you something.

If you moved 5 weeks ago, your package actually could be held at your old Post Office. The Post office now states give it a week before they start forwarding. Krizzy, give a call to your local Post Office and that might be the answer. For Packages there are different actions for type of service with forwarding. Post office is trying to push people to the Premium Service...Good Luck.

I agree with you, the stealing is wrong, but increasing each year on eBay.

Thank you, what I hated was that I did ship a new replacement item out the first time she brought it to my attention even so the Post Office would not cover the insurance since tracking stated delivered and when they talked with the Postal Rep that he said he delivered it. When the 2nd item was delivered, and she said it delivered I pressed her for the reason for non delivery. It took her another 17 days before she said she moved. And each email I asked her to confirm her address since I made a 2nd delivery at my cost and she said in all the emails everything was correct on the her address. Grrrrr, than she leaves a negative and on the last day she opens a case. This happened about 7 months ago and the Post Office is still investigating.
Do I understand correctly that the tracking information shows the package delivered?
Packaged showed delivered with my instance and I think it might have for Krizzy.
If not, it may be returned to the seller who could ship it again after you pay the freight.
I hope so for Krizzy, but if an item shipped with media mail does not have return service compared to a package that might be express. I have only had 1 package ever returned because the Buyer's forwarding service expired. To get my package back it cost me Ten Dollars to get my package back from the Post Office.

Forwarding your mail is not the same as agreeing to pay forwarding for parcels to a new address. Did you agree to and request that service.

If you put in a change of address with the USPS and have a confirmation number... well - here is the answer for future reference. USPS DOES forward packages locally at no cost and will forward packages non-locally at a cost to you if it weighs more than 16 ounces.
