You can ship tires by UPS, and with just a label on them. But beware that UPS has a surcharge for an item shipped that is not encased in cardboard. It used to be $9, but I am sure it has gone up with the recent price increases. So in that case it would add another $36 to the base rate and all of the other possible charges with fuel, extra deliver area surcharge, etc. that may also occur.
They can be shipped by Greyhound Express if your customer lives fairly close to a station. They do not deliver to the home, just to the station that you designate. The good part about them is that the item can be covered with a sheet or blanket and duck taped. You don't have to worry about finding or making a box. All they care about is that there are no sharp edges, as the items are stored in the same compartment as passengers' luggage. You can look up the location of stations, and figure the cost to ship yourself, or call them. Sometimes they are less expensive than UPS, and sometimes not. I have used them over the years for large car parts like fenders and doors for vintage vehicles, and never had a problem. Another positive is that they are handled far less than going the convention UPS or Fedex route.
