seller would not accept payment

Try to pay for item and it wasn't accepted. Contacted seller 3 times over 4 day period asking why payment was not accepted. On July 30th they finally responded with this: No sir go ahead and cancel the payment I had my storage room get broke into and they took a lot of my fishing poles and hunting supplies I'm so sorry for this inconvenience and sorry for taking so long but just have been real busy with the cops and all and trying to get all my stuff back to me.

I don't want to just cancel order because I know this is a little white lie but I just happened to use my Ebay bucks on this order and I am about to lose them. Any ideas?
