What payment methods can I accept?

I sold an item on ebay and was paid from paypal.  (Item was brand new in the packaging and sold AS-IS)  Customr installed it wrong and fried the unit.  Now the customer got paypal to authoize a return and shipped the item back to me (broken and destroyed).  I am in the despute process now.  My question is how do I protect my self in the future from paypal authorizing returns.  I am looking for other forms of payments to take?
