Not very happy- Just lost a bid when I was willing to pay double?

I've purchased maybe 50 items on eBay seamlessly, using Gixen to place bids.

Without any warning, I just received a notice after the auction ended on Gixen (Nothing on eBay)  "Auction Restricted.  No Paypal Account".

There was no requirement in the ad that a paypal account be in existence and I choose not to use it.  I have a card dedicated to purchases, I pay immediately upon end of auction, and there has been no problem with any seller in the past year.

What the heck?  I bid DOUBLE the amount of the winning bid.  Yet the ad doesn't say anywhere that the auction was restricted. Nor was I given a warning anywhere in the bidding process, so that I know to drop out, which happened once before.

This is really annoying. Should sellers not be required to warn you not to bid if you don't have paypal?  Or is this a glitch?

I really wanted that item, which is why I bid so high, relative to the value.
