For the first time since I've been here I came across this on an auction I was participating in. "private listing - bidders' identities protected". What does that mean and what is the purpose of protecting someones identity when your name isn't made public during the bidding anyway? Have they replaced the A***Z( 1842) member identifier on the bid column with the above declaration. Any help understanding this would be greatly appreciated. It seems to me by doing it like that how do we know the seller isn't bidding for his own item to manipulate the price? With a private listing bidder identity protected I have no way of knowing how many others are bidding either.
