Item location is from European Union but seller is from USA

I would like to ask you for help.

I am interested in buying an item that is found on ebay.co.uk or ebay.de ( I'm from Slovenia ), with item location set at European Union ( Slovenia is a part of EU, so i woldn't be obligated to pay VAT ), but the desired item location is from USA.

The thing that is bothering me is, will this item be shipped from USA directly to me and i'll have to pay VAT, or will the item be shipped to a storage somewhere in EU and then be shipped to me, so that I won't be obligated to pay taxes.

I hope that some of you had the experience and can help me.
