I sold something, but I think it may be fake.

I sold a phone I purchased locally on ebay and I was giving it a very close look over before shipping and to reset it to factory settings and I started to suspect it was counterfeit. After watching a few YouTube videos and reading forums I now strongly suspect it is fake. I issued a refund and an apology to the buyer immediately as I can't in good conscience do this. Was this the right course of action?

P.S. I almost did not catch it, I received the phone as is with a Genuine AT&T back cover and only comparing it side by side to another phone did I notice one small detail that gave it away, which was the position of the headphone ground pin insided the connector is wrong. Other than that it is a near perfect replica. I cancelled the payment through paypal but when i tried to cancel the sale with ebay it says it cannot while a case is open with paypal but my paypal account doesnt show an open case... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tYTqeILPNug
