How to cancel unpaid case

I sold an item and the buyer contacted me within three days saying they'd pay two days later. The unpaid buyer assistant started up automatically the fourth day and I forgot to turn it off since the buyer told me they'd be paying. Now they need to cancel the transaction because their e-check was declined. How can I do this without causing a strike against them by closing the unpaid buyer assistant?
