mediterranean coral

Hi All,

do you think this necklace could be old mediterranean coral, the beads are very heavy and cold, the necklace weighs 127 grams. The stringing and fastening is new but the bead caps are old worn silver.

I'm supposed to see a gemologist to get it valued but it costs heaps, so I thought I'd ask for your feedback first.

thanks Marie

 Hi Marie,

I'm not a coral expert just love the stuff but what I am seeing here these look dyed There is a distinct loss of color on some beads. I always think of Med. coral as high quality and these beads remind me more of what one sees in the import shops that supply beads and so forth in large quantities, and usually not the highest quality.

I totally agree with Arlene.

Though the beauty may be in the butterfly, the struggle and growth occur in the cocoon.

That's what I saw too; it's dyed coral and pretty recent.
