I am not sure. I was hoping that maybe you experts could tell from the picture 🙂 Any suggestions or is it the type of thing you would need to see in person to know?

Plastic would be lightweight , glass heavier .
Glass would be cold against your cheek , plastic room temp .

My guess would be plastic. Here's a picture with a bead that has a gouge mark. 893.JPG

Arts and crafts sounds good . It also has a Boho Chic vibe .
The larger beads are faceted , looks like different shapes .

Even though the pictures are soft focus there is something about the beads that looks like they could be Whitby Jet. If you search "Whitby Jet Test" there are sites that will help you.

Take a sample of beads you know are plastic and some you know are glass then tap them on your front tooth. Compare what you hear and feel with these beads. Plastic sounds and feels very different from glass.

Are all the faceted beads exactly the same or is there some variation from one to the other? Are the facets sharp or rounded over? If there is variation and they are sharp then they are cut as opposed to machine made beads.

I agree, research Jet, know that "French Jet" is black glass, true Jet is coal.

That would be cool if they were Whitby Jet . You said your guess was plastic . Look for seams which would be plastic . If you don't see them , consider Jet since its light also .

If it is not plastic, or glass (that would be heaver) and you think it is older (morning jewelry) if it were jet you could test on the inside of your toilet lid or any thing you think is raw ceramic, just rub a bead and if it leaves a black strip it could be jet.. It may have been restrung (from old beads). Nice and they are collectable if Jet or glass..

The gouge mark might be from a hot pin test?

Not sure what damage a hot pin would do to Whitby Jet but if it were plastic I would expect more melty damage.
