Unusual victorian RG watch band?

I am assuming this is for a watch. The  chain o the band is to attach watch so it does not get lost. The band stretches and as seen in the photos the top area moves when pinched ...possible for an oval watch if need be or something maybe a locket? Hoping others have directional help and/or known what this is called to help me with additional searching.

My guess would be it is an early wrist watch that maybe held a ladies watch. What is the diameter?

I would also say for a women, band is approx. 1/4" wide

Often a watch worn as a fob was convertable. In the first world war often a man's pocket watc also was convertible for wrist wear . Charm

Yes, really a fun item! Sheila - I like your examples, maybe even more fun to wear than it's original use as a watch. You know, brooches with missing pin backs?  Shells?

Diane ...The possibilities are endless, imagine 1 1/4" cabochon or rhinestone in any color. I would have tried one if I could of found one that was big enough.
