Think I Found Treasure Need Help

Stumbled across this today in a box of hodgepodge modern used jewelry. Normally I would not have given it a second glance, but figure may as well look since I was standin there.

Pulled out a little plastic bag & noticed the clasp right off..which I normally associate with halfway decent stuff..and it appeared to have some age on it.  Paid the lady & stuck it in my purse. I was more curious about the age & the figure on it than anything. Kinda looked like a Pharoah at 1st glance. Really didn`t look it over good.

Glad I had a loupe in the van.. it`s marked ITALY 14K on the back (is very dirty by the way)  and as I kept looking is marked same on the clasp! 

Needless to say I hardly ever find gold in my journeys 

I only have a small old fashioned non-digital postage scale & it is nearly 1oz on it.

So now I can`t decide after studying it..is it a Pharaoh or a Madonna figure?  Will for sure be taking it to my jeweler.  

Question..should I clean or not?  I just barely hit it with sunshine cloth at the marks & it makes a world of difference..gonna be lovely cleaned up

Got closer on it..pretty sure now it is a Madonna

I would go with Madonna since its from Italy but thats just an opinion.

I just haven't seen Egyptian motif with the Italy mark

Sorry I can't help with a date. Clasp and chain both used over a broad time span so its a bit out of my realm

Hi, Italian jewelry often has bogus gold and silver marks. I hope that this is authentic----good luck--- Regards, Pat

These were very popular with the Hispanic community in Miami in the 80's It looks totally right to me but should be tested anyway My dad has a box full of items with good marks and it's all fake Hope that is not true for yours Great find!

Oh yes..it goes to my jeweler this week..that`s a given.

I will keep my fingers crossed that this is the real deal for you.  I can't think of anyone that deserves it more!  My bet is that it is real and the red stone is a ruby.

Crossing my fingers for you here.  I would not be able to sleep until I had been to the jeweler if I were you, I'd be so excited. Please let us know the outcome, the fact that it is cleaning up so nicely as you describe is a good sign.

Thanks guys! Sunshine cloths work wonders!   Now I get to wait all the way till Tuesday to find out  lol (my luck he`ll be on vacation)
