So this has been sitting on my desk for some time now, and I'm am clueless as to the type of stone-any ideas.

it looks like a Victorian era agate brooch.

Tube hinge, c-clasp, braided frame all look to be Victorian. Possibly gold filled at one point.  Agate was pretty popular during Victoria's reign.

 

That saud, cant say for sure its not an art glass since we dont have it in hand..  The chip at the corner may help too, tho agate and glass both fracture similarly.  Bubbles may indicate glass

I'm not seeing any bubbles, so I'm pretty sure it's stone. It;'s a shame about the fracture in the cornerSmiley Sad
