This ring was my mother's and she wants me to list it, but she can't remember if it is made of blue diamonds or topaz. I know there is a huge difference between the two. Can you tell from these pics? TIA!
Never take life seriously. Nobody gets out alive anyway.
none can ID a gem from a picture. A diamond tester will do.
It is more likely they are not diamonds (which does not make them automatically topazes! the could be cz, fluorite, lab stones, glass, etc etc). But likelihood is not certainty.
Just take them to a Pawn shop and tell them you want to sell your "diamonds" set in "gold". They will check them for free and at least tell you if they are diamond or not or even if the metal is gold. Depending on the meter they use, they may be able to give you a good guess on what the "stones" are.
These are foilbacks, or rhinestones. See how you can see the entire outside diameter of the stones, with no metal pushed over to hold them in? That means they are glued in. Stones without foiled backs will not sparkle when glued in place. They look dead.
