OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

Hello Friends,

I thought I would mix it up a bit and ask what people listen to (if anything) while reading & posting here. Music is a huge part of my life (for better or worse) but it is always a constant. Does anyone here have a favorite group/band that they listen to and would like to share that with everybody?

I will take that next step. My favorite band is Steely Dan and I listen to "AJA" quite often full blast with my JBL L-112's flexing their might and reading the posts here. It is a cool experience for me and I am in hopes that those who listen to music while perusing this board will share what they listen to. 🙂 No right,no wrong, no scam; it is what it is. Do tell...

B.B. King

King was one of the best but guess who he once stated was one of the best blues guitarists that he ever heard.

Re: OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

I lost one of my all time favorite musicians on the 27th of June. We lost the most influential bassist(at least to me) in the progressive rock arena, Chris Squire.

Chris was a founding member of YES and a pioneer in creative bass playing, it is  always a source of inspiration to me and thousands of other bass players in the world. In fact, I bought one of my favorite basses because of his influence, a Rickenbacker 4001. After losing Frank Zappa and Stevie Ray Vaughn, this loss hurt me the most. He had a sudden onset of an aggressive for of leukemia that took him very quickly. Really sad and a tremendous loss...

RIP MR.FISH CHRIS SQUIRE................................

Re: OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

Hola Richard:  At this moment in time, 12 Julio 2015 1050 hrs, whilst enjoying numismaticks time,

Heron is listening to Beethoeven's Eroica [symphony nummer 3].  By the Berlin Philharmonic.

However, at the same time, another tune from the distant past has been circulating around

Heron's  brain waves.

A 'novelty tune' by the name of "Yes, We Have No Bananas".

Heron did some research on this song from yesteryear:

Writ by Frank Silver & Irving Cohn. From the 1922 Broadway Review; "Make It Snappy".

Later recorded by about 50 musical groups.  Including Benny Goodman & Spike Jones and his

City Slickers.

Also heard on the Yimmy Durante Show in the 1950s & 1960s.

Heron liked the version by Spike Jones and his City Slickers.  Actually el Heron liked about

ALL of Spike Jones' novelty tunes.

There are too many different versions to write them here.  Just sayin,

Yes We Have No Bandannas was a great fun novelty tune.

Regards.

There's a fruit store on our street
 It's run by a Greek
And he keeps good things to eat But you should hear him speak!
When you ask him anything, he never answers "no"
He just "yes"es you to death, and as he takes your dough He tells you
 "Yes, we have no bananas
 We have-a no bananas today
 We've string beans, and onions
 Cabashes, and scallions,
And all sorts of fruit and say
We have an old fashioned tomato
A Long Island potato But yes, we have no bananas
 We have no bananas today

Business got so good for him that he wrote home today,
"Send me Pete and Nick and Jim; I need help right away"
When he got them in the store, there was fun, you bet
Someone asked for "sparrow grass" and then the whole quartet
All answered "Yes, we have no bananas
 We have-a no bananas today
 Just try those coconuts
 Those wall-nuts and doughnuts
There ain't many nuts like they
We'll sell you two kinds of red herring,
 Dark brown, and ball-bearing
But yes, we have no bananas
 We have no bananas today"

He, he, he, he, ha, ha, ha whatta you laugh at?
 You gotta soup or pie?
Yes, I don't think we got soup or pie
 You gotta coconut pie?
Yes, I don't think we got coconut pie
Well I'll have one cup a coffee
 We gotta no coffee
 Then watta you got?
 I got a banana!
