OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

Hello Friends,

I thought I would mix it up a bit and ask what people listen to (if anything) while reading & posting here. Music is a huge part of my life (for better or worse) but it is always a constant. Does anyone here have a favorite group/band that they listen to and would like to share that with everybody?

I will take that next step. My favorite band is Steely Dan and I listen to "AJA" quite often full blast with my JBL L-112's flexing their might and reading the posts here. It is a cool experience for me and I am in hopes that those who listen to music while perusing this board will share what they listen to. 🙂 No right,no wrong, no scam; it is what it is. Do tell...

Re: OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

For some reason, The Who are touring this year to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the formation of the band (good grief, they have to be in their 70s by now).  Thank goodness I got to see them in concert 26 years ago, when they were still relatively young.  They were still great back then.

Here are a couple of their better songs from the "Who's Next" album.

Some people mistakenly think that this song is called "Teenage Wasteland", but it's not.

Had tickets to see Gordon Lightfoot in Columbus in March, but he cancelled for some reason or other (bad cold?).

The re-scheduled date was in May when we will be on vacation, so we just took a refund.

Boo hoo!  Really wanted to hear him!

Seasons In The Sun?  You seem to have a rather extensive knowledge of '70s music. ( Smiley Wink )  I haven't heard that one in 40 years.

I have no doubt that you are also familiar with these two songs.

(Unfortunately, Johns died back in 2013).

Funny thing.  I didn't realize that the Ozark Mountain Daredevils also recorded "Jackie Blue", a song that I absolutely hated.

Re: OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

I got a big surprise yesterday.  It was something that I never would have expected in a million years.  I got to speak on the phone to my first love.  The last time that I saw her was 35 years ago.  Her husband (who I have never met) was there, so she had me on speakerphone (which I hate) and we had a very nice 45 minute conversation.

Even though it was so long ago and it ended rather badly, I still have fond memories of her.  To my surprise, she told me right in front of her husband that she still thinks about me.  This song is for her.

Hi Richard.  Who's Next was, IMO, the best album that they ever released (and you have to love the album cover).  I haven't heard it in years but I do remember "Getting In Tune".  That was a good song.  Here is another one from the same album.  I like the way that it starts out rather mellow (with the acoustic guitar) and then after the second verse, they begin to rock.

Re: OT-Favorite Band/Music ~ Reading C&PM

Hi Amy.

I couldn't begin to put into words how happy I was to speak with her after all these years.  Early on in the conversation, she began apologizing to me for things that happened back then.  I stopped her and told her "You don't have to apologize to me for anything.  That was a lifetime ago and neither you nor I are the same people that we were back then and besides, the last time that I saw you (which was a year after we split up) I went out of my way to show you that I didn't have any hard feelings toward you."

So sorry that it didn't work out for you though.

Don't be.  Even though she was my first love, several years later I met the woman who turned out to be the love of my life.
