Help with possible coin variety? Can anyone ID?

I have a 1943-D Steel Cent that appears to be a double die mint mark but different than the one seen on PCGS.  Can anyone say if they have seen it before or could it be a "new" variety?  Also, I have a 1865-S Seated Half that appears to be a variety with a "broken" S but I can't find any real info on it's value?

Any help is very appreciated!!!

This article can help understand the difference between doubled die (which is scarce) and machine doubling (which is not)

Here is close up.  Excuse my ignorance but what does MDD mean?

Mechanical (or Machine) Die Doubling... in short, it's damage, not doubling...

the S *might* be from a damaged punch or die... i just can't see it clearly enough to have an informed opinion...

but... i'd lay odds that it's just damaged from physical contact with something, probably another coin...
