Copy of A. Conan Doyle's Mystery of Cloomber published by R. F. Fenno in 1895. No printing stated. Addall search revealed a few, but they all seem to look like this:

While mine is just navy blue with white decorative title on the spine, and some publisher's adds in the back. Is it... special?

Rain: On the otherside of the title page are their any other dates?

And a question of my own. What is the full title of the bibliography most often referenced as Hitchcock?

There's a Hitchcock who did a bibliography of early American architecture books, but nothing else immediately comes to mind. Can you give a specific example with a citation?

Oldbookshopnj: Bingo! Thank you. Looking for more info on the book listed in this thread - http://tinyurl.com/2qy3pe
(Modern Houses Beautiful Homes

New York: Co-operative Building Plan Association, 1887)

Rain: That book (and all it's issue points) should be listed in one of the mystery bibliographies but I'm afraid I can't help you there. I haven't quite graduated to a bibliography collection, yet.

rain5580:

Fenno did several editions of Cloomber.

You can assign an approximate date from the publisher's imprint:

1895-1898: 112 Fifth Avenue
1898: 9 and 11 East 16th Street
1898-1903: 9 and 11 East Sixteenth Street
1906-12: 18 East Seventeenth Street

I'm thinking it might be a first American edition.

Hi,
I was just notified by ebay that they pulled my "Mein Kampf" book auction because it is prohibited? When did they start banning books?

pacrats: Evidently, eBay doesn't "police" listings in the book categories,
but, sometimes, if someone reports a listing violation,
eBay tends to shoot first and ask no questions later.

Which means that, even though copies of MEIN KAMPF are sold on eBay every day,
you stand a chance of having your auction pulled
if someone reports it.

Life's not fair.....

....and neither is eBay.

If you want to sell it on eBay,
you have to indicate that you won't sell it in Europe

Can I assume this would be a first edition? I have the hardback book History of the Great flood. It's about the Johnstown flood of 1899 and the publication date by Ogilvie was 1899.

I found example on ebay, softcover, but nothing with picture to compare. Mine is reddish brown, black decoration on front, gold on spine.

Thanks for any info.
