jgebhar: Probably.

But I doubt if it's the first book written about the Johnstown Flood.

I will take another look at the bibliography tomorrow, but I don't think it identifies a first American edition. For your other question, check your ebay messages.

jgebhar:
The Johnstown flood was in 1889.

How would one go about listing this:

"L'Aeroport De Paris Presente La Nouvelle Aerogare D'Orly

"Souvenir of the opening of the Orly Airport. Printed on heavy glossy paper"

(stolen from one i found listed for $50 on alibris)

It's in French... that's about all I can eke out.

You might add Paris and France in the title too.

rain5580:

The Doyle bibliography does not identify a first American edition of Cloomber, although it does give details on American firsts of most titles.

Probably there is no consensus on the first--Munro published editions in the same time period as the earliest Fenno edition, and other publishers may have done so as well.

oldbookshop : Thanks so much for taking the time to look that up. I suppose I can at least tout it as an early American printing.

swilliams0: I think there was only one printing of this book,
but two different issues: one in hardcover and the other in paperback.

The hardcover is worth more.

So they're all "first edition"s

Thank you so much for your help, I also loved this book, I can truly sense the pain and joy Smith captured in his photographs.
I appreciate your answer to my question about this book. Now i understand the reason for the First Edition posting. Swilliams0

This has probably been asked and answered a thousand times and I apologize if it drives anyone crazy, but I'm just now getting into Mom's books and I don't know the answer, so ...
