There are quite a few books that don't look like anything special. Here's one:

This is just a thought, but the AB Bookman was the major journal of the used and rare book trade. It is no longer being published, but I imagine if you can locate some back issues, it would be profitable to read and study them. Probably the books that were wanted then are still wanted now. Anyway I remember that a lot of these titles mentioned here were wanted some years ago, so they are still in demand.

I bought such a book thinking it might make a nice gift it was so small. I started reading it and decided to keep it. I found out it may be considered rare. I asked on the board about the publisher but it must have been a busy day then. I still don't know. So I hid it and moved on with my life.

The Duality Mystery-

-is that sometimes, there will be a book that you haven't seen for years and years, if ever- then, within a short space of time, almost immediately one after the other- you will find two copies......

Believe it or not, but that is an exceptional copy of that book! It usually turns up very good at best and it is almost impossible, and I am not exaggerating, to find in jacket! Much rarer than many of the more expensive books of the period. That was a good buy at grand!

Missed that one 😞

Now that the post I was referring to is deleted... the book was a first edition, first issue of Winesburg Ohio in dustjacket.

The way the dustjacket was clipped at the bottom of the front flap. And also, I'm 99% sure that the first actually stated "first printing" on the copyright page. And was probably in a better binding than described.
