can a person put a bid on an item and have another person buy it now

I had a bid on an item and had someone else buy it now, can you do that?

Clothing is one of the categories where the Buy It Now price remains until bidding reaches 50% of the BIN price.  Bidding hadn't reached 50%, so someone could buy it now.

Let's think about this: Was it done? Then it can be done.

Buy It Now doesn't go away when bidding starts for all categories. For some, it is still available and that means someone can buy the item even though there is a bid.

If the buy it now does not go away with the first bid , then it may be used by someone else later.

That can happen in 4 categories only.

The following categories  have longer lasting BIN, with  the BIN remaining until  50% of the BIN price is reached:

1. Clothing, Shoes & Accessories

2. Cell Phones & PDAs

3. Parts & Accessories in eBay Motors

4. Tickets
