Did I violate e-bay rules by shipping outside of e-bay shipping & not using e-bay shipping labels? I found it too confusing & and sent my sold item vis USPS on 12/22 the day after it was sold.
To be delivered on 12/28 per usps. Also did I violate e-bay rules by e-mailing the buyer, letting her know the info on delivery. I always notified e-bay re:the sales info ,but never recieved any correspondence, and contacted the buyer on e-bay pages, but never got an answer. Am I contacting appropriately?

You did not violate Ebay rules by not using Ebay shipping. You can manually add a tracking number for the item so your buyer can track their purchase .After you have sold for awhile,it is beneficial to use Ebay shipping because you will receive discounted prices and Paypal will release your funds for shipping so you dont have to pay out of pocket.
I hope this helps!

there is no ebay policy or rules that says you have to print your labels or ship thru ebay or paypal. Just be sure to ship with delivery confirmation and put the tracking number into the paypal transaction so you have seller protection. And if you message the info to the buyer thru ebay, then they will get it but may not respond.

It's OK to ship however you want. You don't notify ebay, and although it's OK to notify the buyer, you could have just Marked As Shipped at the end of the row of the sold item. Why would a buyer acknowledge your message?
Selling on ebay is not a neighborhood tag sale. Many people don't want to have to open a bunch of emails. They get too many as it is from ebay when the item is sold.
