Hi - I've only had a few purchases from ebay in the past. I just bought an item and the shipping cost was set at 6.50. After the item sold the person sent me an invoice with the cost of shipping at over 15.00. After I emailed them asking about it they stated that I lived on the other side of the country and the calculator when they listed the item wasn't correct. I never would have purchased this if I had known this. Can they do that after the fact?
The only recent purchase I see is the DUNCAN Butterfly Yo-Yos - 12 Total
Shipping shows priority and ranges from $5.60 to 88003 (Sellers zip)
to $6.95 for a zone 8 >> 96929
Best to pay right away after the auction ends before the Seller has a chance to add anything
At this point if you don't pay , The Seller can open an unpaid item dispute
You can try calling eBay and explaining the problem to them BUT seems most times they do nothing about it
Try sending the Seller an eMail explaining to them that eBay does not allow Sellers to up the shipping cost after the fact
they stated that I lived on the other side of the country and the calculator when they listed the item wasn't correct.
If it's the Yo-yos, the seller had the shipping calculator set for a Priority 1 lb. package. Surely 12 yo-yos would weigh more than a pound, so if the the calculator gave the wrong price, it was the seller's fault for not using the correct weight (GIGO).
If you still have the email that tells you that you won the auction, you might be able to click the 'Pay Now' button and still get the original shipping price (I don't know for sure - that's just what I have heard). If you are able to pay that way, the seller would either have to ship or refund your money. If the seller cancels and refunds, I would leave appropriate (NEG) feedback.
