iN BOOKS, WHAT IS HARDCOVER TRADE CLOTH?

I have same problem, what is it?

It appeears to be a dodge so some sellers can list books that are probably book club editions without admitting it. and buyers are not getting retail editions unless they ask first; and then it is up to a seller to say whether it's retail or book club.

I'm a book seller and I recently found that EBAY is designating my hardcover books as Trade Cloth. I came in here looking for what or why. I don't even know what it is or why it had to change. I describe my books as Hardcover or Softcover paperbacks. Amazon isn't changing their descriptions.

Trade cloth is the cover of the cardboard on hard cover books sold in stores. As opposed to the more durable bindings and covers used for high usage books such as in libraries.

It seems the term is now becomming common even though it's not new. It has nothing to do with book club editions.
