This is a question that is asked quite often.

Here's the story:  Feedback is voluntary and optional.  Some partners in a transaction will leave it immediately, some leave it in batches and some never leave it at all.  These are all perfectly satisfactory occurrences.

Seller FB for buyers can only be positive; therefore, most sellers consider buyers' FB worthless as it will always be 100% positive.

Do not request feedback, no matter how much you would  like to do so.  Your response can be something you would rather not see. For a seller, no FB at all is satisfactory because it means that the buyer had no problem with any aspect of the transaction or, if there was a problem, it was small enough not to matter.

Just keep on doing a good job and FB will come, albeit slowly.

Feedback is voluntary.  Most buyers don't leave it.  If you bother them to give you some, they may send you an undeserved Neg, which is INFINITELY worse than none at all.  If you absolutely need to get positive feedback, buy a few items.  Since buyers can't get anything but positives, and many people just look at your total, this will inflate your numbers and may get more people to buy from you.  Otherwise you're in the same boat as the rest of us.  Do your best, and cherish each positive that comes in.

Good luck.

thank you Maraloo for your insight.  It's important for me to do a good job with my listings albeit few., so i am still discougaged that a good transaction and happy customer cant be bothered to help me out.

Can i or Should i withhold my positive fb til they   complete my fb? Might they be more motivated to do it if first?  I always leave fb on purchases as soon as the package is open and satisfactory. ditto for a paid item when selling.

Does a low 14* but 100% positive fb have any consequences?

Thanks

That's a choice every seller makes.  Many have found they receive more if they wait - but it isn't always the case.

Totally agree. Here's a FB a buyer that posted on SC today left for their seller ...it was a neutral, could just as easily have been a negative ...

Yikes. Let sleeping dogs lie. No feedback is good feedback. I bet there were some DSR dings too.

I am sure glad the forums have spell-check or I would look even dumber :smileyhappy:

No feedback is good feedback, yes. You know those dings you get that could get you kicked off ebay if you get too many? They are calculated as a percentage of your sales, not a percentage of feedback received. If you get no feedback from a buyer, it lowers the percentage of dings.

For this reason it's good when you get no feedback, unless you are hovering at 4.7 or lower average DSRs which ebay have decided makes you non performing, which is of course bull, and I disagree with that despite having better star averages than the majority.

Some buyers don't leave feedback if they are slightly unhappy. This means you shouldn't goad buyers into leaving feedback. Trust me, ebay does that for you.

Sorry to tell you very little leave feedback. Sold 62 item this month and only 1/2 left feedback (sad thing thats a good month for me in feedback turnover). I normaly get about 1/3 who leave feedback.

I know that very little leave feedback. It's better that way, because of how ebay calculates the low scores that can get you kicked off/lose top rated seller.

They are a percentage of your total sales.

The less potential for any arbitrary low scores, the better.

Its a sign of the times---no feedback.  A general rudeness and disregard in our society.  Many people are so darned social media connected and self centered today that there is no time for business etiquette.  Call me grumpy but its true.

I am within a gnat's a** of not leaving any more feedback until I get it first.  Period.

First let me say I have left feedback for every single item I have ever received and I have not checked to see if I have received it.  Honestly i don't care.  When I receive my item(s) I purchase there are often papers included that state all kinds of things including asking me to leave feedbac.  As stated I alwas do, but to me it's a waste to send anything except a receipt.  Just this week I received an 8 1/2 X 11 piece of paper with a request to leave feedbac as well advertisements for many of their products. I just pulled it out of the trash to see wha else and about a 1/3rd of the page explains about the paypals fees, how much they are charged per transaction as well as compalining about some new tax laws that went into effect Jan 2011.  Honestly that's just annoying more than anything.

We know for sure that there are three things a seller can do to get a little more feedback.  Those three things are:  (1) Do things in such a way the the buyer is very satisfied; (2) Leave feedback at payment; (3) Ask the buyer to leave feedback .

Since asking a buyer for feedback is offensive to some buyers, I recommend that sellers do not ask.

Sellers can help other sellers to get more feedback.  When more sellers leave feedback, more buyers leave feedback.

I dont know about being rude ...some buyers dont buy often may not know how to leave it...some like myself dont leave feedback when a tranaction goes bad....would you rather have a buyer leave you FB if they are not 100% happy?

Re: How can i get my buyers to leave feedback, nobody seems to do this anymore

I recently had a buyer asking me for feedback a day after they bought something. Weirded me out because I do leave buyers feedback after they pay and hadn't done that days fb yet. They said they were trying to build up their rep and I let them know that asking for fb might rub some the wrong way and if they feel they must ask, at least give the seller a few days to do it. I also let them know that about half of sellers won't give it until the buyer gets the item and gives fb themselves, an FYI so to speak.

So I agree that some of the problem is newbees not knowing what is up. The rest is probably just laziness.

some buyers do not care about leaving feedback for sellers. They only want there product! Give good customer service, communicate quickly to any questions & your feedback will build.
