Can I pay for an item with a prepaid credit card?
Is that the same as PayPal?
If not, what do I need to do to use PayPal?
Thanks for your help.

Paypal is the preferred payment service by most sellers on eBay. You can pay by credit card, debit card, bank check or from your paypal money account. Paypal is the credit/debit card processor for most sellers.
Paypal offers an extra level of protection not found with conventional credit card processors in that your personal info is never seen by the sellers or their employees. You enter you credit card info once, it is kept on file at paypal which processes the payment, then forwards the money to the seller without revealing your credit card info, they only receive payment and the info they need to ship your item, nothing more.
The service is free to buyers and also offers an extra level of safety through paypal buyer protection, if there is a problem with your purchase and you cannot obtain satisfaction from the seller, you may file a claim through paypal for a full refund usually only on the condition that you return the merchandise.
Millions of buyers and sellers use paypal, as a wholly owned subsidiary of eBay it is financially strong.
