DVDs are coded to allow movie distributors to control the worldwide release of their movies.

Besides Region 1...

Region 2: Europe and the Middle East
Region 3: Southeast Asia, Hong Kong, South Korea
Region 4: Mexico and to the south, including the Caribbean
Region 5: Africa
Region 6: China

If a DVD is marked Region 0 or all, it will play in all regions... and the likelihood it's a bootleg is strong.

I just bought a lot of ten DVD's from a dealer, I know I shouldn't have but I am looking for movies to watch. All of them are old remakes even a silent one form 1922. They are all marked Region 0. I complained to the dealer and got a rude email in return, Told me I should have gone to Wal Mart. I left a negative feedback and he retaliated with a negative saying I am a bad buyer and Beware. Not only that but he charged priority mail and sent them Media mail which was $6 cheaper. I complained about that and he told me to get a life. He is

Rey, you got exactly what you paid for. They are not bootlegs. They are mostly public domain movies you can buy at the dollar store.

Stay away from auctions that don't list the movies for sale.

You had every right to complain about the shipping issue, though.
