I've looked up and down the internet and can not find any info on this, surprisingly.
I am trying to find out how you can use the serial number on a Bernina sewing machine to obtain the date of manufacture. I know that you can get the date form the serial but I don't know how to decode it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have seen a lot of info online for the Singer sewing machine serials, but I need the Bernina info and can't find it.
Thanks very much.
The first 2 numbers of the Bernina serial number are code for the year it was manufactured. I have a machine that starts with 42 so it was manufactured in 2002. 30's - 1990's, 20's - 1980's. I'm not sure how far back it goes, though.
Hi Scout - According to your serial number theory our Artista 180 (#37396573) was made in 1997. Problem is, the Artista 180 was introduced in 1998 according to the Artista timeline. Any thoughts on this? Thanks for your help!
I just say this not sure how long ago you posted this but very simple to anwser. 1998 was when they were introduced but were being manufactured as early as late 1996 so 1997 means you have one of the first made of those machines.
