A photo would help 100% (use 500 dpi or higher, if possible). Include all info (including markings) that's available. If authentic, I really suggest that you don't even try to sell it here. A specialist site would give you a much better price.

Authentic or not, it can't be sold on Ebay. No Nazi or items with swastikas can be listed. Not saying that I agree with Ebay's policy on this but it will get cancelled if listed.

Not quite true. No Nazi items or militaria with swastikas can be listed. You can certainly list a copy of "The Rise and Fall of the Third Reich," even though it has a swastika on the cover.

It's a real grey area. Seem eBay can determine when a swastika is "offensive" and when it is not.

Here's the policy:

Examples of items that will generally be removed:

Items that bear symbols of the Nazis, the SS, or the KKK, including authentic German WWII memorabilia that bear such marks
Crime scene photographs
Morgue shots
Letters and artwork from notorious murderers
Electric chairs and related capital punishment items

Examples of items that may generally be listed:

German coins and postage stamps (canceled or otherwise) from the WWII era regardless of markings
WWII memorabilia that does not bear the Nazi or SS markings
Books and movies about WWII or Nazi Germany, even if the Nazi symbol appears on the item
War documentaries or documentary photos portraying victims of war or violence
Items of historical importance associated with acts of violence against public figures

So, yes, in this case, the armband would not be allowed to be listed. Although, it is my understanding that it could be listed and described as long as a photo of the swastika is not shown.

No!!, that is not correct information.

Even thought you don't show a photo, it is the item and what it represents that is forbidden.

Ebay does not have time to police all the listings, the rely on a member to report a listing and then they watch the listings of that seller for additional violations.....

This is an SA (Brown Shirt or Storm Trooper) armband.
They are not hard to find at all, however very collectible.

Hi all! I am new in this Board...just cruising around to find where best to ask my question and I see your disc. re: "no Nazi symbols". My question was going to be about a huge lot of papers, etc., that I just came across belonging to a Mormon missionary who was working in Germany 1938 and 1939.
The lot includes opera programs, train tickets and the like. I would post pictures - but now I'm afraid!!! There is even a lapel pin with Hitler embossed (it's cheap metal or metalized plastic). There are some neat front pages from a couple newspapers....what to do here? Thanks for your input! Sue

I personally think that eBay is ridiculous in it's banning a swastika. Good Lord, they allow Communist stuff with the hammer and sickle and any educated person knows that "Uncle Joe" Stalin exterminated more of his own people than the Nazi's did of ANY and ALL groups. How about Samurai swords? They were used to lop off POW's arms. eBay's thoughts must be that if they don't show a swastika, it will "go away" as it would if eBay were up to it's ears in dirt. Ludicrous!

Oh, forgot this. Have you gotten a "spoof" email and forwarded it to eBay? All that they do is send you a hokey dokey form letter. Do they say on their ads on TV that you are SAFE? Heck no! All they do is tell you that you can find all this neat stuff on eBay. Oh, that's true enough, BUT the "big boys" at eBay should advertise just how safe eBay is! I have a friend that was "had" on a baseball card. He wrote Paypal and eBay and they did not do a darn thing. They are in it for the bucks, plain and simple! Don't kid yourself, eBay is for eBay and you better watch your butt! Nuff Said!

This comes from a response as to why they pulled my ad for a WWII German Fighter Armband.

eBay does not permit Nazi items to be sold on our site. Any item that
claims to have been "de-Nazified" is not permitted on the site. Items
that bear any markings of the Nazi party are prohibited on eBay. This
applies even if the offending symbols have been cropped, edited or
otherwise covered or altered in the image or description of the item.
Please also note that a seller may not offer to send the prohibited
images via email.

I have an original Nazi armband, complete with Swastika. I know I can't sell it on ebay. Does anyone know of a site where it would sell.

I can tell you why NAZI items are not allowed on eBay.

It has to do with the market in Germany. In germany, Nazi items are not allowed to be sold or advertised. In order for ebay to expand into Germany, they had to agree to ban Nazi items from the eBay site.

This had been discussed a long time ago when the ban first took affect.

If Italy said they would not allow Mussolini items on their ebay site then ebay would ban those items as well.

Thanks for reiterating that, bidonmine. I've posted the same thing many, many times over the years, but either folks can't wrap their mind around the idea that laws in other countries (particularly regarding free expression) aren't the same as here and if you want to do business there you have to abide by those laws, or they're happier thinking that it's some great ebay conspiracy.

That is complete nonsense. They even have militaria shows there, where they sell the items. You just have to cover the swastika or SS runes with a sticker most of the time. But it can be bought and sold.

Besides, ebay germany was up long before the ban came.
