It started at work today. My eye felt (still does) as if there was an eyelash in it. Now theres also lots of puss and my eyelids are swollen. I can't keep it open for more than a minute without everything getting blurry. Any advice would be much appreciated. Should I go to the ER?
Sounds like you have an infection in your eye. I had this happen to me a few years ago, & ended up going to the eye dr. He gave me some drops to put in it...I didn't want any prescription drugs, so I went to a good health store & purchased a few things to take care of the infection naturally from within. If you go to the dr., just go to your regular MD- he will probably give you antibiotics. I can't really advise on the ER- I waited until the next day. Just do what you feel is best for you.
When this happened to me, I came home from work & took a nap...I woke up with "crusty eye" - my eye was kind of gooed shut. My symptoms were the same as yours- yuk!
My sister had some eye issues before and we had to take her to the clinic and got some prescription eyedrops.
When she was a little girl, she had huge issues and even had to put a needle in it.
Nothing worked, until my mom heard a remedy somewhere, made it and her eye just healed instantly.
There's a Chinese herb that is orange and looks like a raisin..you can probably find it in a grocery shop in China town or a local oriental shop. (it's also good for cancer prevention, I hear)
Make that with pork liver and then maybe some other meats (sliced pork maybe) or carrots for flavor. Carrots are good for the eye too. We still drink it occassionally just because it tastes pretty good.
I wear contacts and use boric acid and water. I boil a cup of water and let it cool to room temp and add 1 teaspoon of boric acid. I use this mixture to rinse my eyes when they feel dry and tired. I keep it in a sealed jar in the refrigator for up to 2 months.
HOWEVER, it sounds like you may have something in your eye. I would go to the doctor ASAP~!!
Sounds like 'pink eye' for sure! Go to your doctor. The prescription eye drops are the only thing to get rid of it. It is highly contagious, so after you've done the medical drops, throw away any cosmetics that came into contact with your eyes or you'll just keep reinfecting your eyes.
In the meantime, wash your eyes with baby shampoo to help alleviate the infection and the blurriness. After you start the medical drops, you can discontinue the baby shampoo treatment.
OP I agree with everyone else go see your doctor. I've scratched my right eye numerous time (so many I've got permanent scar tissue) Are you sensitive to light too? It could be so many things. Good luck!
yea i've gotten pink eye. oh so NOT fun. the discharge goo is gooey and gross. when i get it i usually wear sunglasses cuz my eyes seem to be really sensitive to sun + light during pink eye. no eye make-up during this time. oh no.. it will just make it worse! [i learned the hard way =/ ]. just let it clear out and use those eyedrops from the doc.
