It seems this would be a good place to ask this question as you all seem to be pretty talented.
This is not the first time that I've had nice sweater that the ribbed cuffs and/or waistband stretched out and really just got too big.
Right now, I want to wear a neat Liz Claiborne Christmas sweater that I bought last year and wore maybe twice. I knew when I bought it that the waistband and cuffs were a tad loose, but now the waistband just flops around my hips. It looks bad.
I'm thinking of going out and buying the widest elastic that will fit and attaching it to the waistband.
Will this work? Has anyone tried this and had it come out looking right? Any other ideas?

When I was a kid my mother used to thread (with a tapestry needle that is not sharp) that really skinny elastic around the hem/cuff. Kinda winding it so you can't see the elastic on the outside. She would do two or three rows if the cuff was wide.
