Should I accept a postal money order payment? A customer is asking before the item has sold. Thank you

Just wondering if it is okay to accept a postal money order for payment. A customer is asking before the item has sold. Obviously I wouldn't send the item until I received and cashed the money order. Just wondering if it's a good idea. I do not know if they have done any previous transactions on ebay or not.

It is perfectly OK to accept a postal money order payment if requested by the potential buyer.

any kind of money order or check is not an accepted form of payment on ebay and you and the buyer will not have any ebay protection.  If that is okey with you fine - but you should let the buyer know they will not have any buyer protection if they pay with a money order.

- Give details - esp item numbers. It's hard to answer vague questions
- Use complete sentences and paragraphs - it's easier to read
- If you want to add more details, use the options/edit link on the bottom left of your post.

Postal MO's are relatively safe because you can cash them at your branch PO before you actually ship the item.  Most other MO's have to be deposited like a check, and can take up to 2 weeks to clear your bank account.

After you ship the item, go back to your Items Sold and manually mark this one as paid.  You can also add a note.  In the past, I've recorded the MO# in case I needed it for future reference.

Good luck!
