what happens if your the high bidder at end of auction but the reserve price has not been met

The seller has the option of sending you a Second Chance Offer at the showing amount of your highest bid* but you are under no obligation to accept it. 

 

 

*except in a couple of big ticket categories:  motor vehicles and heavy construction equipment; where the seller sets the SCO amount at a price up to the reserve amount.

If the reserve price was not met  then there is no winner for that auction.
