I have an antique carved chair, perhaps a dining chair. I need help w/ history, to put a value on it? Perhaps I just need to find an appraiser. It had belonged to my grandfather, who had lived in North Dakota.

Circa 1900 press-back chair (as opposed to carved). Hard to tell wood but I think probably ash. Not a lot of value for a single chair. I pick them up needing some work for free-$5.00 ...... won't pay more if I want them at all. In nice condition such as yours is, maybe $25.00 and I am probably being a bit generous. Would be worth more if you had a set but, even then, not terribly valuable these days.
