what are the things on this lamp? birds? ghosts? demons?

hello

i got a lamp at an estate sale, it is supposedly antique and chinese or japanese. 

it is decorated with an image of a man (fisherman)? and two smaller images which i cannot identify-birds? ghosts? demons?

what do you think they are? anything about the lamp you could tell me?

there are no identifying marks or dates. the shade and finial are new. the base of the lamp is carved wood.

The first one looks like a bat to me.

Definitely a bat. They symbolize good luck in the Chinese culture.

Check that finial to make sure its not jade,though I do think this is a more modern lamp, you never know.
