Any suggestions on the origin, status and represented era of the depicted man?
The painting itself is not signed (unless the signature is hidden somewhere). I may be wrong but the back of the canvas does not look older than mid 20th C.. What do you think? That mustache is not quite right, is it?
Thanks

Looks like the Lone Musketeer to me (without his mask).

Looks like a picture of Alan Davies, the British comedian. The sword blade is too wide for that type of sword. I think it is pretty naff but what do I know?

Looks 1920s to me, and American. And there's a lot "wrong" with it besides that moustache.

It's definitely a reproduction. Chances are it is a master study if some sort. I found this painting in an antique shop. I doubt mine is the original but it's definitely more refined. Ether way, I stumbled upon your listing because I wanted to know more about the painting too.

I have the Art as well
Signature is bottom left and I didn't know the history of the piece. This has been in my family forever
Would love to know the history
