What does Processed Through Sort Facility ISC New York (USPS) means?

Hi,

I am selling my bag collection internationally and one the bag is going to US. Using the tracking service provided by USPS, the tracking shows :

This applies to incoming as well as outgoing parcels. In my previous post, I forgot to add that when the parcel reaches the country (city) of final destination, you can track the package using that country's local postal service website. But of course you must know what service is handling it. For example, I just shipped a parcel to a friend in Croatia. Their local postal service is Croatian Post (Hrvatska posta), and their site is: http://www.posta.hr/provjera-statusa-medunarodne-posiljke. So I know that when the parcel has been processed through the ISC in Chicago, that 24 hours later I'll no longer track it on my local site: https://www.usps.com/, but I will track it on the Croatian Post site. And my friend is doing the opposite for the parcel that was sent to me. It's not complicated.

Another tip to speed up the precessing of a parcel through an ISC (basically USPS Customs) is to pack it neatly and securely, using a printed shipping label, to minimize and/or eliminate suspicion. Shipping your items with a declared, low value, as a "gift" (on the Customs form) also keeps your receiver from paying duty fees. I would not recommend this for high value items, because you would want to be reimbursed for any possible damage that might occur.

The USPS is making a concerted effort to improve their tracking services, providing as close to real-time tracking as possible. This is because of the grumbling of customers over the years, as to why they can't be more like DHL, FedEx, UPS, etc. Usually the first in business is not always the best, unless of course you're Apple. So to remain relevant, a business must adapt to change. Personally, I am completely satisfied with the service vs price-point provided by the USPS, and will continue to be loyal to them as long as it lasts.

I sent the item from Ukraine (Europe) to the Netherlands (Europe) using registered Airmail and now the itme is processed by USA sorting facilities.

How it could be possible? Why the parcel shipped within Europe goes to USA???

I'm having the same problem with a shipment out of the US to China, only my package went through Chicago.  I expected maybe two weeks for delivery but it has now been over 90 days.

I would think that the USPS would have to prepare a document stating what packages were loaded on the aircraft so that the receiving end could match them up.  I've talked to the problem resolutions center and even have a case number.  The bottom line is "sorry we don't track any further".   So no one can assure me that it got an airplane in Chicago.

I am convinced that it is lost forever.  I'm blaming the USPS because of their inability to verify that it actually got on an airplane.  It's a pretty **bleep**-py system.

To add to the record - here's my tracking from usps.com on a watch from Seiya. Read from bottom up.

Times are local, so it was shipped at 3:20 am on Dec. 24, San Francisco time, and got to my local post office 3 1/4 days later. Not bad!

Tracking was upated about 2 hours after the event. There was no tracking between "Out of Customs" and the local post office, so I thought it was still sitting at the airport.

There is also an ISC in Miami. The two packages that I sent to Mexico went through there.
